Purnima graduated as a Civil Engineer from Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology, affiliated with Panjab University and completed her Master’s degree in Infrastructure Systems from Centre for Transportation Systems (CTRANS) at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee. During her Masters, she undertook various academic projects like Estimating and Improving Level of Service for Pedestrians in Roorkee and Study of Accessibility Issues in Toursim Circuits of Haridwar City.

Her work experience includes summer internships at DLF Universal Limited and Greater Mohali Area Development Authority(GMADA). She also interned at RITES Ltd., Gurugram where she worked on the Safety of Roads being developed under National Highway Development Project (NHDP). She worked as an Infrastructure Engineer with a consultancy firm where she provided technical and managerial assistance for infrastructure projects.

At NIUM, Purnima is working as a Research Associate, she is involved in Urban Mobility and Infrastructure related Projects.
