Sushmitha Ramoji is a Public Policy Professional and have an academic background in Urban and Regional Planning. She is currently associated as a Knowledge Manager in National Institute of Urban Management (NIUM). She is part of the core team and responsible for business development, capacity building and research activities at NIUM. She leads Energy, Environment and Climate Change team and contributes to research activities in the areas of Urban Sanitation, Solid Waste Management, Social Inclusion and Urban Land Transformation.

She worked as an Urban Planner at IPEGLOBAL Thiruvananthapuram. She has handled multiple projects as a project lead within the ambit of Smart City Area Based Development from the inception stage to project tendering stage. She took lead in project activities such as project conceptualization, project planning, preparation of policy frameworks, socio-economic assessment, feasibility study & detailed project report. Her major contributions also include liaising with the client, stakeholder consultations and liaisoning with government agencies and officials to formulate project proposals and strategies.

She has experience in working with research and practice-based organisations. She worked as a Technical Specialist in Urban Sanitation at Dr. MCR Human Resource Development Institute, Centre for Urban Development Studies (CUDS), Government of Telangana. At CUDS, she was engaged in research activities and capacity building for municipal functionaries.

She worked as a Research Associate at Indian Institute for Human Settlements, Bangalore. Here she worked on ‘Reducing climate induced relocation risks in urban areas’ project and contributed to designing research methods, risk assessment and economic assessment frameworks in understanding social and economic perspectives of climate induced risks. Her proficiencies are in analysing urban policy framework, research design, site documentation & analysis.
